BlueScope Lanka introduces LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® OPTIMA™ & THERMATECH™ Solar Reflectance Technology in COLORBOND® steel

BlueScope LYSAGHT® Lanka is introducing the LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® OPTIMA™ profile with a wider cover width of nearly 33% higher and a wider spanning capability, as compared to the exiting LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® profile, making it one of the widest roofing profiles available in the market. Its subtle square ribs and fluted pans make it strong, durable, and versatile. The long profile length and special anti-capillary groove in the side lap allow using the profile on roof pitches as low as 2 deg (1 in 30). LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® OPTIMA™ is also one of the most economical and cost effective roofing profile in the market.
 
BlueScope LYSAGHT® Lanka will offer TRIMDEK® OPTIMA™ roofing/walling profile in any length depending on the customer requests. Installation of LYSAGHT TRIMDEK® OPTIMA™ requires only 5 fasteners per sheet per support. In case of fixing the roof panel, it can be fixed on the crest to maximize watertightness and for walling, it can be fixed either on the crest or valley. 
 
LYSAGHTTRIMDEK® OPTIMA™ is manufactured from high strength COLORBOND® XRW steel in an attractive array of colours and aluminum/zinc alloy coated ZINCALUME® steel. The profile is also available in COLORBOND® ULTRA steel (AZ 200 ZINCALUME® coating) intended for severe coastal or industrial environment due to its higher coating mass and specially designed paint system. 
 
As a part of the continuous innovation & improvement process, Tata BlueScope Steel is proud to launch the next generation of COLORBOND® XRW steel and COLORBOND® ULTRA steel incorporated Thermatech™ solar reflectance technology. Thermatech® technology provides a higher level of thermal protection for Industrial, commercial and residential buildings. This leading edge technology works by absorbing less heat and therefore transferring less heat inside the building. Thermatechtechnology has a revolutionary effect on solar reflectance; absorbing less heat, thus reducing peak roof temperature by up to 6 ºC, thus helping in maintaining greater thermal comfort inside the building.  The average conventional roofing material (Clay Tiles) has Solar Radiation Index (SRI) of 17 while COLORBOND® XRW steel (light color–i.e. Surfmist) with Thermatech™ technology has an SRI of 82,  (100 in SRI being ‘white color’,  the best solar reflectance and 0 being ‘black color’ the least solar radiant agent). The higher SRI reduces the cooling energy consumption by approximately 15% in according to a research done in Australia by BlueScope (The average reduction is about 5%: results will differ depending on the level of insulation, building shape and function).
